Edwards Woodland Working Party

From Neil Harris.  The next Woodland Working Party will be at 10am on Sun 17 March. It will be for a couple of hours.

Glenn, the tree surgeon, visited last week and finished off the first phase of the thinning plan. So our priority is to make piles of the logs and of the brush to act as homes for small wildlife this summer. The trees he cut are at the lighter end of what he has cut in previous visits, which I was grateful for during a trial run yesterday. The hope would be that we can do all of this next weekend.

For those who prefer to do lighter work, Glenn ‘released’ some tree guards which should be tidied up and they can continue with clearing the low branches and shoots in the rides to allow more light through. Good progress has been made on this this winter.

If anyone cannot come at that time but is free at a different time next weekend, please let me know as I could probably fix a time to meet them there. It would be good to spread the load for the final work of the year. Think of shifting logs as a brisk workout!

Let me know if you can come or if you have any questions. Neil (nrp.harris@gmail.com )
