Village E-mails, the pub, litter, and crime

Dear All,

The Village Pub and other strategic issues – keeping up to date

The Annual Parish Meeting and the Dry Drayton Parish Council Meeting were both held on the 18th April. If you were unable to attend, you can now read the minutes of both meetings on the Parish Council’s website at www.drydraytonpc.org.uk

Litter Picking – from Annie Harley.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the litter pick on Easter Saturday. Between us we collected 16 bags of rubbish. Special thanks must go to the Isett family who cleared the area within the 30 mph limit at Scotland farm. Judging from what they found, it hadn’t been cleared for a very long time. Thanks must also go to Miriam who walked past the Village Hall as we were assembling, and immediately volunteered to help, and to the Irishes, who cleared Oakington road with me, and then turned out again two days later to clear Five Bells corner by the A 14 – which was briefly pristine, before the coffee cups and drinks cans appeared again.  Prize find of the day was a functioning I-pad, found in the gutter in Oakington Rd and now returned to its very relieved owner.

I know several others regularly pick rubbish up as they come across it, so I hope that with everyone’s help we can keep the village looking smart all summer. Annie Harley

Crime in the Village

We continue to receive the unwanted attention of thieves. Between 7pm on 15/04/2017 and 3.30pm on 19/04/2017 at Scotland Road, Dry Drayton, a burglar forced entry to a shed and stole two lawn mowers. Please be vigilent and report anything of concern to our village Neighbourhood Watch representatives.
