School Governors, Coffee Mornings, Longstanton invite

Dry Drayton School Governors

Have you considered becoming a School Governor. The Governing Board of Dry Drayton Primary School needs additional Governors and would love to attract the skills and experience of people from our community. To find out more about the role and our village school, this link http://www.drydrayton.net/pdfs/govad.pdf will take you to an open letter from the Head Teacher.

Dry Drayton Village Coffee Mornings

There will not be a coffee morning in the Village Hall on Thursday 3rd October as no-one is available to organise it on that day! The next coffee morning in the Village Hall will be on Thursday 10th October

St Michael’s Church Longstanton

Longstanton residents are fundraising to promote the profile of St. Michael’s Church (which is technically redundant) and the need for its ongoing maintenance and upkeep. They have a limited calendar due to the nature of the building, but have been successful in garnering community engagement regarding this beautiful old building. There is an open invitation to Dry Drayton residents to come to their Michaelmas Harvest Fair on Sat 28th September.  The Fair starts at 1pm and among other things you can do some cupcake decorating. The invitation has originated from Narelle Hassell, Secretary, Friends of St. Michael’s Church fosm2017@gmail.com

DryDrayton.net Village E-Mails: A14 and other traffic and development issues

1. Road Closures on the A14

For seven nights between Saturday 17 July and Friday 24 July, the eastbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 31 and 32. There will also be no westbound access to the A14 at either junctions 32 or 36. These closures are effective between 20:00 and 06:00hrs.

2. Madingley – Meeting on major traffic and development issues

Madingley village is holding a further traffic meeting at 7pm this Wednesday (22nd) in the Madingley Village Hall. This is not a Parish Council meeting but a village meeting. All are welcome. Wine once again will be supplied. There are a lot of important issues being discussed and there will be information and discussion on the A14 upgrade, traffic measuring, the proposed busway into town and Madingley traffic calming. They now have a detailed coloured plan prepared by District Councillor Francis Burkitt. This largely follows the red bus route and includes a new park and ride between Park Farm and the A428, and a new bridge over the M11. All are welcome. Please pass on to friends and neighbours.

3. Dry Drayton Coffee Mornings

A note for your diary from Marlene Northrop – there will be no coffee morning in the village on the 6th and 13th August.
