Village Clean-Up, Footpaths and Art

  1. Dry Drayton’s big clean up just got bigger.

Thanks to interest, the Great British Spring Clean has grown from one day to two. Anyone willing to spend time picking up litter from Dry Drayton’s roadsides is encouraged to take part in one of two tidying timeslots this coming weekend:

    ·     Saturday 16th March, 10.30 – 13.00

    ·     Sunday 17th March, 13.00 – 15.30

Both efforts start at the Church Green.

The clean up, which is being organized by Geoffrey Isitt and Gilly Carr, is part of a month long national campaign by Keep Britain Tidy.

Participants are encouraged to bring high-visibility vests, good boots and gloves. Black bags and picking sticks will be provided.

Clean-up, Crime and Communications

Dear All,

Village Clean-Up Easter Saturday

You will all have seen comments in the latest village newsletter about the worsening state of litter in the village – possibly connected with recent increases in traffic. Annie Harley is organising a Village clean up on Saturday 15 April starting at 10.00am. Please help if you can. Annie writes:

“Please come and help us pick up litter and generally tidy the village on Easter Saturday morning. Meet at the Village Hall at 10.00.  Please bring rubber gloves, and hi-vis jackets if you have them. We have requested bags and  jackets from South Cambs, fingers crossed that they can help.  If we have lots of volunteers we could wash street signs as well – if you’d prefer to do that please bring buckets and mops!

Thieves active in the village

Between 18:45 hrs on 02/04/2017 and 19:30 hrs on 02/04/2017, while the owner was attending Evensong at the Village Church, a thief smashed the rear window of a red Peugeot 308 which was parked on the road outside and stole a bag containing a lap top, which was left on display on the rear seat. We understand this is not the first car to be broken into in the village in the last few weeks. Please be vigilant and yes, even in the village, don’t leave valuable items in view in your parked car.
