Dry Drayton Swifts

Dry Drayton Swifts From Rowena Baxter:

Swift Awareness Week runs from Saturday 2nd to Sunday 10th July inclusive. Why not come along to Pettitts Close and watch the birds’ aerobatics around the houses? The best time to watch is morning and evening on a warm summer’s day.

Swifts are now on the UK’s Red Data List as endangered birds. Two factors thought to have caused this decline is lack of flying insects and lack of nest sites. We have addressed the nest sites issue in Dry Drayton and making our gardens wildlife friendly, using no pesticides, will also help.
