Art Exhibition, Thieving, MP’s Surgery, etc

  1. Ploughman’s Lunch and Art Exhibition

Dry Drayton may be leaving the EU, but life goes on.  There will be a traditional Ploughman’s Lunch in the Village Hall 12.30 Tuesday 28th June 2016 plus an ART EXHIBITION by local artists. You can view, maybe buy art – or even commission a local artist to do an original, just for you.

2. Thieves are still active in the village

Between the 20/06/2016 and the 21/06/2016 unknown offenders removed ladders from the top of a van in Oak Crescent, Dry Drayton.

Cambridgeshire Police are investigating a burglary where the suspect made off leaving a bag behind. Police believe from enquiries carried out that the suspect may be living rough sleeping in a tent in the general area around South Cambs. Police request that any sightings of persons sleeping rough are called in on 101 quoting ref no. CF0263100616. Local officers will then check the location. The Burglary occurred around midnight on the 21st of June 2016 in Milton.

3. Our MP – local open Surgery

Heidi Allen MP will be holding a surgery at Tesco Community Room on Saturday 9th July from 10.30am–12.30pm. No appointment is necessary to see her. South Cambs District Councillors Bunty Waters and Roger Hall, and County Councillor Lynda Harford will also be there. Contact 07734 690580 if you have any questions.

4. Anyone interested in starting a local Repair Cafe?

Following the hugely successful Repair Café in Histon on Saturday last, there is another opportunity to find out what’s involved in setting one up in our village. Perhaps one village coffee morning per month should become a repair cafe? There is an open meeting on Monday 4th July at 8:00 pm in the small lounge at the Rose public house, London Road, Stapleford. Nicole Barton from Cambridge Carbon Footprint, Chris Lee of the Royston Repair Café, Kate Bournsell of Cambridge Transition and Siobhan Mellon will share Repair Café experiences and you’ll be able to ask questions and meet others also interested in setting one up. All are welcome.  Please drop Siobhan Mellon Siobhan.Mellon@scambs.gov.uk a line if you intend to attend.

5. And the best chippie is…..

In the last DryDrayton.net e-mail we mentioned the temporary closure of the Bar Hill chip shop until 27 July and we asked your views on the best of the alternative chippies nearby. All of the votes cast in our mini EC (Extra Chippie) Referendum went to the Barry’s Plaice at Fenstanton – which also has some excellent reviews on www.tripadviser.co.uk.
